Munich–Lake Garda cycle route
The transalp classic runs right past the Stoacherhof
The farm lies directly on the route through Matrei am Brenner
The bike tour from Munich to Lake Garda is one of the most popular transalp classics in the German-speaking world – around 560 kilometres from the Bavarian capital to Torbole and Riva. Its way across the Alps leads over the Brenner and thus right through the Wipptal. The Stoacherhof in Matrei am Brenner lies directly on the route – the ideal stage before or after the pass.

The route runs through the Wipptal
From Innsbruck the classic climbs up the Wipptal towards the Brenner – past Matrei and Steinach, where the Stoacherhof sits right on the route. Anyone cycling the Alps from north to south inevitably passes through here. A stage stop at the farm means: tackle the climb to the Brenner well rested, or arrive relaxed after the descent from Bavaria.
The Brenner – the gentlest Alpine crossing
At around 1,370 metres the Brenner Pass is the lowest Alpine crossing on the entire route and the only major climb between Munich and Lake Garda. That is exactly what makes the tour doable even for less experienced cyclists and for families with e-bikes – one reason German guests in particular value this route.
A stage base at the Stoacherhof
For cycle travellers the Stoacherhof is a convenient stopover: secure shelter for the bike, your own apartment with self-catering comfort and a quiet location away from the through road. Set off refreshed towards the south in the morning – or stay a night longer and explore the Wipptal mountains.
