The “Altar of Tyrol” – a striking local peak above the Wipptal
Access via Maria Waldrast – approx. 15 min by car to the trailhead
The Serles is regarded as the “Altar of Tyrol” – a striking, free-standing mountain that dominates the panorama above the Wipptal and at the entrance to the Stubaital. Even Goethe is said to have been impressed by its shape. The Stoacherhof lies in the ideal starting area for tours around the Serles.

Hikes and summit tours
The range spans from easy high-altitude trails to a demanding summit ascent. The classic route leads via Maria Waldrast – fit mountaineers reach the summit area from there, with a wide panorama over the Stubai and Tux Alps.
Maria Waldrast as a starting point
The pilgrimage monastery of Maria Waldrast at 1,638 m is the natural base for Serles tours: car park, refreshments and several route variants in one. From here the day can be flexibly arranged – a short loop or a big tour.
Panorama and photo subject
Whether from the valley or the surrounding heights, the Serles is one of the most beautiful photo subjects in the region and a landmark you have in view every day from the Stoacherhof.
